Bolivar, Mo.
- The SBU big men were dominate in the game between the Bearcats and the Miners of Missouri S&T on the way to a 100-77 victory on Monday night. SBU had five players in double-figures, and were able to use their size and strength down low to cruise to a 23 point victory.

SBU was led in scoring by Daveion Zellner who posted a career high 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting from the field, even though he only played 12 minutes due to foul trouble. "I've been hesitant in the previous games," Zellner stated. "Coach Guiot told me to go at them, so I went at them. I realized I needed to make a change, so I made that change. My teammates and I all started to click, and it made everything go smoothly."

Along with Zellner, Abner Kamps had a solid game down low, giving SBU 15 points off of 7 of 12 shooting from the field. "It's easy to have a game like that when you have guards that can get you the ball," Kamps commented on the victory. "The motion offense Coach Guiot is running makes it easier to get shots off when your a big man and if there is good guard play. It's good coaching and good team chemistry."

Ryan Dougherty continues to impress with 14 points on the night, his eighth straight game in double figures, and Preston Guiot added 14 points in the victory. Jake Littrel started to heat up outside, hitting two clutch three's to put Missouri S&T down for good in the second half, and finished with 10 on the evening.

As a team, the Bearcats shot 55.6% from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arc. The Bearcats outrebounded the Miners 38-30, had more steals (10-5), more assists (14-10), and forced 22 turnovers.

"Coming into the game it was about us executing," head coach Jeff Guiot stated. "When you don't shoot the ball well the game before, you have to keep your confidence and you have to keep shooting and doing the things you do. I thought our players really responded tonight. The big men did a good job of posting up and tonight Missouri S&T tried to play us straight up in the post. They pretty much said we are going to make you beat us in the post. We were getting good position, and our post players were making good decisions with the ball in there. You have to have a well-balanced team to have the success we are getting in there. Our guys did a good job of getting the ball in there."

The Bearcats will open up MIAA play on Wednesday, November 30 when they travel to Warrensburg with a match-up with the Mules of Central Missouri. The men's game is set to tip at 7:30, following the women's game at 5:30. Be sure to follow SBU AD Mike Pitts on Twitter @ad_at_sbu for live updates from all SBU sporting events he attends.
