Magnolia, Ark. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team produced a solid effort in a 74-55 road win over Southern Arkansas on Wednesday afternoon. With the victory, the Bearcats move to 3-1 on the season.

After a tight first half, the Bearcats went into halftime with a 30-26 lead over the Muleriders. However, halfway through the second half the Bearcats were able to push their lead to double-digits. SBU would retain the lead for the remainder of the game and come away with a 74-55 victory over the Muleriders. The Bearcats spread out their offense effectively, with four different Bearcats scoring in double figures, and producing many season high scoring efforts.

Chasity Prince led the SBU scoring attack with 19 points off the bench from 6 of 8 shooting from the field. Jacqui Zelenka had her best game this season, with 14 points, while LaKendra Smith added 14 points and 8 rebounds, and Kaitlan Cramer gave SBU 10 points. Prince, Zelenka, Smith, and Cramer all had season high scoring efforts as the Bearcats secured their largest victory of the season.

As a team, the Bearcats shot 48.0% from the field and 30.8% from beyond the arc. The Bearcats out-rebounded the Muleriders 40-35, and had more assists 16-10, and had more points in the paint 38-22.

"I thought our bench was a huge strength this afternoon," head coach Todd Voss commented. "Going into conference games we will need that to be a big strength for us. I like our team, but we still have growth ahead of us and we are still a work in progress. If we have the right approach, we have the chance to do some great things."

The Bearcats will open up MIAA play on Wednesday, November 30 when they travel to Warrensburg, Missouri to face off against the Central Missouri Jennies.
