Game Notes

Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats compete in three games this week with games against conference rivals Emporia, Washburn, and Fort Hays State. SBU will start by playing a conference match up in Bolivar, on Tuesday night against Emporia followed by games at Washburn on Friday night, and at Fort Hays State on Saturday night . SBU looks to start the week off strong with a win against Emporia keeping them in 6th place in the MIAA conference. The Bearcats go into this week lead by sophomore Britni Reed and junior Kristi Hager. Reed is leading the Bearcats 308 kills this season an average of 2.99 kills per set. Kristi Hager has accumulated an average of 4.08 digs per set this season for the Bearcats. As a team SBU has compiled 200.5 total blocks on the season, to go along with a team receiving percentage of .947.

The Coaches
Bearcats head coach Kelly Richardson attended Missouri State University on a volleyball scholarship where she trained as a setter. After completing her 2000 season at MSU, she transferred to Evangel University where she continued to set and also played right side. Richardson broke six school records while attending Evangel, and was the first player in school history to be named a volleyball All-American. Richardson graduated from Evangel with her B.S. in physical education and a health minor. Coach Richardson has entered into her fifth season, as the Bearcats head coach with a 6-6 record. Richardson career coaching recorded at SBU is 54-104.

Bing Xu is in his 4th season as the head coach of Emporia State, where he has compiled a 169-59 record.

Chris Herron is in his 10th season as the head coach of Washburn, where he has compiled a 304-53 record.

Kurt Kohler is in his 3rd season as the head coach of Emporia State, where he has compiled a 29-65 record.

Scouting the Opponent
Emporia State will be coming into the game against the Bearcats with a four game winning streak and sitting in 3rd place in the MIAA conference.

Washburn will be coming into the game against the Bearcats with a 18 game winning streak and sitting in 1st place in the MIAA Conference.
