Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Bearcats hosted the MSSU Lions on Thursday night in Bolivar, but came up short in the contest, dropping the game 2-1 in 2OT.
Caitlyn Seurig lead the Bearcats with the lone goal coming at the 10:38 mark in the first period. Seurig had a beautiful shot from the ride side at the edge of the goalie's box into the upper left corner of the net. Southern would respond with a goal of their own eight minutes later, and eventually score the game winner in the second overtime period.
The Bearcats outshot the Lions 16 to 11 and seven to six on goal, and Heather Seger had a great shot that barely missed as it hit the left goal post which would have eventually won the game for the Bearcats in regulation. SBU drops to 2-8-2 on the season.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 8 when they host Missouri Western with a start time of 11:00 a.m. from the SBU Soccer Field.
