Game Notes
Bolivar, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcats will compete in three conference games this week opening against Fort Hays on Tuesday, Missouri Southern on Thursday and then concluding the week with a conference match-up against Missouri Western on Saturday. SBU will look to push their record to 4-7-2 with three conference victories this week.
The Bearcats competed in two competitive game last week, and came away with a hard fought tie against Washburn.
Kelly Isaac lead the SBU scoring attack against Washburn last week with one goals and looks to continue her success this week in conference play.
The Coaches
Bearcat head coach
Rob Podeyn enters his third season, and looks to further improve a program that last year went 6-9-3. Over his first two years, Podeyn has recorded a career mark of 13-19-1.
Rob Podeyn became the eighth head coach in SBU history when he accepted the position. He joined the Bearcats after serving as director of soccer operations, assistant sports information director and head women's soccer coach at Northwood University, positions he held since 2006.
Craig Shaw is in his first season as head coach at Fort Hays State with a carrer coaching record of 38-20-3.
Alese Woolard is in her 2nd season Missouri Southern this year, and lead the Lions to a 5-8-5 record in 2010.
Chad Edwards is in his first season as the coach for the Griffon's. This season he as lead his team to a 3-4 record so far.
Scouting the Opponents
Fort Hays is coming into Tuesday game with a one game losing streak and are ranked last in the MIAA conference. The Tigers have given up 11 goal this season while scoring 10 goals for a 3-5-1 record.
Missouri Southern is coming into Thursday game with a one game winning streak and ranked 5th in the MIAA conference. The Lion's have given up 20 goal this season while scoring 8 goals for a 1-7-1 record.
Missouri Western is coming into Saturdays game with a one game losing streak and ranked 7th in the MIAA conference. The Griffon's have given up 11 goal this season while scoring 10 goals for a 3-4 record.
