SBU Volleyball Prepares for Three MIAA Matches This Week

Game Notes

Bolivar, Mo.
- The Bearcats compete in three conference games this week with games against Truman State, Northwest Missouri State, and Missouri Western. SBU will start by playing Truman in Bolivar, Mo on Tuesday night followed by games agaist Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western on the road. SBU looks to start the week off strong with a win against Truman State giving them a tie for fourth place in the MIAA conference. The Bearcats go into this week lead by sophomore Britni Reed and junior Kristi Hager. Reed is leading the Bearcats with an average of 3.02 kill per set this season. Kristi Hager has accumulated an average of 3.80 digs this season for the Bearcats. As a team SBU has compiled 168.5 total blocks on the season, to go along with a team receiving percentage of .948.

The Coaches
Bearcats head coach Kelly Richardson attended Missouri State University on a volleyball scholarship where she trained as a setter. After completing her 2000 season at MSU, she transferred to Evangel University where she continued to set and also played right side. Richardson broke six school records while attending Evangel, and was the first player in school history to be named a volleyball All-American. Richardson graduated from Evangel with her B.S. in physical education and a health minor.

Coach Richardson has entered into her fifth season, as the Bearcats head coach with a 8-13 record. Richardson career coaching recorded at SBU is 51-101.

Ben Briney is in his 2nd season as the head coach of Truman State, where he has compiled a 38-17 record.
Jessica Rinehart is in her 1st season as the head volleyball coach at Northwest Missouri State, where she has compiled a 8-11 record.

Cory Frederick is in his 3rd year as the head volleyball coach at Missouri Western State University, where he has compiled a
32-50 record.

Scouting the Opponent
Truman State will be coming into the game against the Bearcats with a two game winning streak and sitting in 6th place in the MIAA conference.

Northwest Missouri will be coming into the game against the Bearcats with a one game losing streak and sitting in 7th place in the MIAA conference.

Missouri Western will be coming into the game against SBU with a four game losing streak and sitting in 8th place in the MIAA conference.
