Thad Everson had a fabulous day on the ground, rushing for 148 yards including an impressive 54 yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

The Bearcats were able to get on the scoreboard first, early in the second quarter. Clayton Davis recorded a safety for the Bearcats after a Central State rush of a loss of 14 yards to put the Bearcats up 2-0. Two drives later, the SBU offense was able to put the ball in the end zone after a 54 yard touchdown rush by Everson to give SBU a 9-0 lead. The Bearcats defense came up big in once again, forcing a rush of a loss of 11 yards resulting in another safety, giving SBU an 11-0 lead. Dan Connors would add a 1 yard rushing touchdown before the half ended to give SBU a 17-0 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, the Bearcats defense continued to dominate, holding Central State scoreless through three quarters. In the fourth quarter, with the Bearcats looking at a fourth and goal from Central State's 14 yard line, kicker John Colliver had a 14 yard touchdown rush to give SBU a 24-0 lead. The Bearcats would add another rushing touchdown of 6 yards from Tiras Harris to give SBU a 30-0 lead. The Bearcats would go on to a 30-13 victory.

Everson lead the Bearcats in rushing yards with 148 yards on 18 attempts. Connors lead SBU's passing attack with 226 yards while Derwyn Lauderdale was the Bearcats leading receiver with 116 yards on six receptions. As a team, the Bearcats recovered two fumbles, had one interception, and recorded two safety's. Blake Poncio lead SBU with 6 tackles.

"I thought our kids came out and di what they needed to do to win the game," head coach Keith Allen commented about the Bearcats victory. "It's always good to beat a team on the road when it's their homecoming and an 11 hour bus ride. Our defense came out and did an outstanding job shutting Central State's offense down. I was disappointed with our turnovers on offense and penalties and lack of production in the red zone. We need to go to work this week to fix those things and prepare for a very good Missouri Southern team."

The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 22 when they travel to Joplin, Missouri to take on Missouri Southern. The game will be televised on the MIAA TV Network, and will conclude the Bearcats three game road trip.
