Game Notes
Bolivar, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcats will compete in one conference match up this week against Emporia State on Thursday, Ooctober 13, starting at 4pm. SBU will look to push their record to 4-8-2 with a conference victory over Emporia.
The Bearcats competed in three competitive games last week, and were able pervail for the win in the first and third game. The SBU scoring attack last week was lead by
Marene Gomez, Jade Barnden, Caitlin Suerig, and
Ashley Creason all scoring one goal. The combinations of goals by Gomez and Barnden help lead the Bearcats to a victory
over fort Hays State and one the goal by
Ashley Creason game the Bearcats a win over Missouri Western.
The Coaches
Bearcat head coach
Rob Podeyn enters his third season, and looks to further improve a program that last year went 6-9-3. Over his first two years, Podeyn has recorded a career mark of 15-20-1.
Rob Podeyn became the eighth head coach in SBU history when he accepted the position. He joined the Bearcats after serving as director of soccer operations, assistant sports information director and head women's soccer coach at Northwood University, positions he held since 2006.
Bryan Sailer is in his first season as head coach at Emporia State with an overall collegiate carrer coaching record of 59-23-2 and and an Eporia record of 1-7-4.
Scouting the Opponent
Emporia State is coming into Thursday's game with a four game losing streak and ranked last in the MIAA conference with no wins. The Hornets have given up 15 goals this season while scoring 9 goals for a 1-7-4 record.
