SBU Volleyball Set to Travel to Pittsburg State and Host Missouri Southern

Bolivar, Mo.
- The Bearcats compete in two conference games this week with games against Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern. SBU will start by playing Pittsburg State in Kansas on Friday followed by a game against Missouri Southern at home on Saturday afternoon. SBU looks to start the week off strong with a win against Pittsburg State. The Bearcats go into this week lead by sophomore Britni Reed and junior Kristi Hager. Reed is leading the Bearcats with an average of 2.97 kill per set this season. Kristi Hager has accumulated an average of 3.45 digs this season for the Bearcats. As a team SBU has compiled 157.5 total blocks on the season, to go along with a team receiving percentage of .950.

The Coaches
Bearcats head coach Kelly Richardson attended Missouri State University on a volleyball scholarship where she trained as a setter. After completing her 2000 season at MSU, she transferred to Evangel University where she continued to set and also played right side. Richardson broke six school records while attending Evangel, and was the first player in school history to be named a volleyball All-American. Richardson graduated from Evangel with her B.S. in physical education and a health minor. Coach Richardson has entered into her fifth season, as the Bearcats head coach with a 6-6 record. Richardson career coaching recorded at SBU is 50-100.

Ibraheem Suberu is in his 13th season as the Head Coach of Pittsburg State, where he has compiled a 190-129 record.

Trish Knight is in her 1st year as the Head Volleyball Coach at Missouri Southern State University, where she has compiled a 4-14 record and a 2-4 record in conference.

Scouting the Opponents
Pittsburg State will be coming into the game against the Bearcats with a one game winning streak and sitting in 5th place in the MIAA conference. They will be looking to move up in the conference over NWMSU with a win over the Bearcats. Pittsburg has dropped five-conference game and looks to beat SBU moving them to a 4-5 in the conference standings.

Missouri Southern State University has been dropping down in the MIAA standings over the last week and now stands with a 2-4 record sitting at second to last in the MIAA with two conference wins. The Lions are on their way to last in the MIAA standings if they drop an away game to the SBU Bearcats.
