Topeka, Kan. – SBU competed against #20 Angelo State and Tarleton State in the Washburn Lady Blues Fall Classic on Saturday, dropping the first match to Angelo State 3-0, and the second match 3-2.
The Bearcats started play off on Saturday going head to head against Angelo State in a tough match. SBU compiled 31 kills with 15 of them coming from the combined duo of
Carrie Johnson and
Britni Reed. The Bearcats also collected 7 blocks against Angelo State. The Bearcats were not able to hold off the Ram's in the end, falling in three games.
SBU went five games against Tarleton state taking the 5
th game into overtime resulting in a heartbreaking 21-19 loss. Reed,
Mackynzi Gibson, and
Jenna Isaacs all had double digit kills against Tarleton, providing a combined 58 kills. The bearcats had a total 54 assists with Miller compiling 28 and Fankhauser compiling 23.
Kristi Hager lead the Bearcats with 27 digs.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Tuesday, October 4th when they travel to Emporia State. The match-up is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
