KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- The SBU volleyball Bearcats met a hot team Wednesday, as they dropped a 3-0 road match at 13th-ranked Truman. The Cats dropped the first set 25-20, before Truman pulled away winning 25-14 and 25-11.
Ashley Jurgensmeyer led with 10 kills.
Kylie Heim had six kills and a team high .267 attack percentage.
Brianna Wallace had 18 assists while
Britni Reed and
Marcy Greenwade had nine digs each.
In the first set, SBU led early at 4-1 and 9-7 before the Bulldogs rallied with 13 of the next 20 points. The Bearcats closed to 20-18. Truman closed out the first set to win 25-20. SBU trailed 9-7 in the second set, before Truman, scored 10 of the next 14 points. In the third, TSU jumped out to 9-0 lead and never looked back to win 25-11.
The Bulldogs won their third straight match and improved to 10-2 overall and 3-1 in the MIAA. Emily Briseno led with 10 kills while hitting .529 on the night.
SBU (6-5, 1-2 MIAA) returns home for a pair of weekend matches in the Meyer Sports Center. The Bearcats host Missouri Western this Friday evening at 7 p.m. and then Northwest Missouri on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
