BOLIVAR, Mo. -- A second half goal by the Bulldogs gave Truman a narrow 1-0 lead at the SBU Soccer Pitch. The Bearcats managed two shots on goal during the match, one apiece from midfielders
Lindsey Boden and
Kelly Isaac. Sophomore goalkeeper
Megan Link made ten saves and faced 18 shots.
Truman started on the attack early, making SBU's Link make three quick saves in the opening six minutes. Isaac got of a shot in the 13th minute, but was unable to get it by the keeper. The Bulldogs closed out the half with eight shots over the final ten minutes.
The scoreless draw was broken in the 66th minute, when Truman forward Olivia Hayes punched through the only goal of the match. A pair of yellow cards were dealt out over the last 20 minutes, as Truman's Alison Taylor and Heather Niebling picked up cautions.
With the loss, SBU falls to 2-3-1 on the year, and 1-2-1 in the MIAA. Truman holds the conference lead with a 3-0-1 mark in the conference, and 4-1-1 overall. The 'Cats will face the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks, in Bolivar, on September 23, at 4:00 p.m.
