KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- The SBU tennis teams wrapped up their week-long spring break trip with dominant wins Friday and Saturday over Johnson County Community College and Truman State. The SBU women defeated JCCC 8-1 and rolled over Truman 7-1, while the SBU men won 8-1 over Johnson County and blanked Truman 8-0.

With the win Saturday, the SBU women improved to 6-3 on the season. The women went 4-1 during the trip, with their lone setback being a 5-4 defeat at Washburn. The SBU men moved closer to the .500 mark at 7-8 after going 4-2 during the week.

For the SBU women, #3 Faiga Schmidt and #4 Jenna Hendrickson both went 4-1 in singles play. Johanna Olsson and Sarah Sentlinger went 5-1 during the week at #2 doubles. Jolee Cook and Schmidt were 3-2 at the top doubles spot while Cook was also 3-2 in singles at #1 for the Bearcats.

During the week, Domingos Carissimo went 5-1 at #2 singles and 5-1 in doubles (#2 and #1 doubles). Jorge Palacios was 5-1 in singles action (#4 and #5) while Jorge Margiotta was 4-1 in singles action at #3. Tyler Welch was 3-1 at #6 with a pair of unfinished matches. Marton Zsiga went 4-2 at the top spot for SBU in singles, and also went 4-2 in doubles play.

SBU hosts Northwest Missouri on Thursday, April 1 at 3:30 p.m. in a makeup of a match rained out on March 20.
