TOPEKA, Kan. -- Day three of the SBU Bearcat tennis spring break trip went to Washburn, with the Ichabods and Lady Blues taking both matches against the Bearcats. The #34 Washburn women's team edged SBU 5-4 while the SBU men fell to #22 Washburn 5-1.

It was a close match for the SBU women and the #34 Washburn squad. SBU took two of three doubles matches with the teams of Johanna Olsson/Sarah Sentlinger and Jenna Hendrickson/Crystal Guiot with victories. Faiga Schmidt and Sentlinger earned singles at #3 and #5, respectively. The match was decided at #4 singles, with Jenna Hendrickson edged in a three set thriller by Alyssa Castillo.

The Ichabod men jumped out to an early lead by taking all three doubles matches. Domingos Carissimo grabbed SBU's only point with a three-set win over Ryan Ward. WU's Yann Kasay won the match at #4 singles with a victory over Jorge Palacios.

SBU continues action Thursday at Rockhurst with both the women's and men's matches starting 1 p.m.
