EMPORIA, Kan. --
In the MIAA Crossover event at Emporia State, the SBU softball Bearcats dropped a pair of Friday games, falling to Central Missouri, 7-3, in the opener and later, 6-1, to Missouri Southern in a second contest. The event was originally scheduled to be played at UCM in Warrensburg, but was moved to Emporia due to wet field conditions.

Central (9-9) answered with a run in the second, and two more in each of the third and fourth innings. SBU rallied to cut the lead to 5-3 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth. A double from Stephanie Sechler scored Stephanie Luciani. Sechler later scored on a single by BreAnn Proctor. UCM scored in the fifth and sixth innings to put the first game away.

In the second game against Missouri Southern, the Lions (8-15-1) took control early with three runs in the second inning and another in the third. MSSU added two more in the fifth inning before SBU scored their lone run in the last of the seventh, when Latasha Baderdeen's RBI single scored pinch runner Devon McNeal. Latasha Baderdeen continued her good day at the plate, going 3-for-4 in the second game.

SBU visits Drury University in Springfield on Tuesday, March 23 for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. The Bearcats then get a quick rematch with Central Missouri in the MIAA opener on Wednesday, with a twinbill starting at 4 p.m. from Warrensburg.
