ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Southwest Baptist's Frank Grant, Jr. just missed a top eight finish at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, finishing ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.78. Grant was edged by Antonio Abney of St. Augustine's, who ran at 21.77. Abney's teammate Josh Scott won the event with a meet record of 20.91.

"I am very proud of Frank and how far he has come," said SBU head coach Corey McElhaney. "To be the ninth-fastest 200 meter runner in Division II is a huge accomplishment."

Adams State won the national crown on the men's side, while Lincoln took home the women's national team title. The event was hosted by Adams State College at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The Bearcat track and field squads now turn their attention to the outdoor season, which begins next Saturday at the Central Methodist Open in Fayette, Missouri.
