MEN: SBU 7, FSU 2 | WOMEN: FSU 5, SBU 1

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The SBU men's and women's tennis teams were scheduled to have their 2010 home opener Thursday with Ferris State. Rain forced a last-minute reshuffle and the teams headed to Springfield's Cooper Tennis indoor courts where the SBU men topped #44 FSU 7-2 while the Bulldog women won a 5-1 shortened match over the Bearcat women.

On the men's side, the #31 Bearcats picked up their third win of the season by taking five of six singles matches. #1 Marton Zsiga won his seventh straight individual match with 6-4, 6-3 victory over FSU's Kyle Revall. #2 Domingos Carissimo, #4 Jorge Palacios and #5 Brandon Finerty picked up straight set wins while #3 Jorge Margiotta rallied for a three-set win. Zsiga and Margiotta took a close 9-8 win over Revall and Steven Roberts. Palacios and Tyler Welch won at #3 doubles over Ahmet Demir and Arin Enge, 8-3.

In women's action, the Bearcats lone win came in #2 doubles, with Johanna Olsson and Sarah Sentlinger winning 8-5 over FSU's Natalie Diorio and Mary Coleman. The match was stopped once Ferris State reached five due to a lack of available courts.

Both SBU teams will open MIAA play when they host the Northwest Missouri Bearcats on March 20, beginning at 1:00 p.m. from the Bryant Tennis Center.
