CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. --
Senior quarterback Steven Gachette threw for 196 yards and rushed for 123 more, but the #10 Redhawks proved to be too much to handle, as SBU falls on the road, 40-14. Southeast Missouri racked up 445 yards on the ground, with four touchdowns.

After a Gachette interception was returned for the touchdown, putting the Bearcats down 13-0, SBU answered quickly, as running back/kick returner Chris Culbreth brought the following kickoff back 85 yards for the score. SEMO managed a ten play, 59-yard drive to go back up two possessions, capped off by the first of running back Henry Harris' three touchdowns.

The Bearcats took just one minute off the clock to come back, driving 63 yards for the touchdown. Gachette hooked up with fellow senior Sean Kelley for a 35 yard score. The catch marks the second straight game Kelley has gotten in the end zone, and it's his third touchdown catch in the past five games.

SBU forced a three-and-out on the following possession, but had to punt the ball away themselves after failing to cross midfield. The field of possession game played into the Bearcats' hands, however, pushing the Redhawks back to their own 13-yard line with the punt. The 'Cats dodged a bullet after Southeast Missouri's 15 play drive stalled on the SBU 18-yard line, and resulted in a missed 35 yard field goal.

Early in the second quarter, SBU looked poised to take a narrow lead when their drive crossed into SEMO territory. From the Redhawk 37, a holding penalty backed the 'Cats up on a critical third down play. On 3rd and 15, Gachette managed a ten yard gain, but couldn't reach the first down marker, and SBU was forced to punt.

Southeast Missouri quarterback Matt Scheible connected with Cedrick Cox for a 26 yard touchdown at the end of the first half, finishing off a seven play drive that started on their own eight yard line.

Twice in the third quarter, the Bearcats got into the end zone, but could not manage to get points on the board. After Harris' score gave SEMO a 33-14 lead, SBU drove down to the Redhawks' 2-yard line, thanks to a 12-yard scramble from Gachette, and a 14 yard reception from wideout Charles Johnson. SBU had three chances from inside the five, but the Redhawk defense stood their ground and SBU turned the ball over on downs.

With a 3rd and 5 from the Southeast Missouri 13 yardline, a pair of incomplete passes killed the 'Cats drive late in the third quarter.

The Redhawks dominated the time of possession in the fourth quarter, eating up the clock on a 19 play drive that lasted over ten minutes.

Senior wideout D.A. Allen led the Bearcats with 6 catches for 49 yards, while on the other side of the ball Chris Hawkins and Austin Otwell had a team-high nine tackles. Ben Tautolo had four stops, including a team high two tackles for loss.

With the loss, SBU snaps their seven game winning streak, and fall to 7-3 on the year. Still with a chance to post the best record in school history, the Bearcats will travel to Arkansas Tech next Saturday, November 13 for the final game of the 2010 regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
