ROLLA, Mo. --
Kurt Koenig led the Bearcats with 17 points and nine rebounds, but SBU couldn't hold on to a 13 point first-half lead, as the Missouri S&T Miners come from behind to take a 74-68 win. The Bearcats played solid defense, holding Missouri S&T to 39.3% shooting, and just 20% from three.

The Bearcats struggled from the free-throw line, shooting just 50% (11-for-22). The majority of missed shots came on the front end of one-and-ones, limiting their scoring chances at the line. "They nearly tripled us on the free throw line, and it wasn't because of officiating. When you shoot below fifty percent, you're probably going to lose," said SBU head coach Jeff Guiot after the game.

The 'Cats built up a 13 point advantage after Robson Memnon's layup made it 27-14, SBU. SBU was carried on offense early by Ryan Dougherty, who hit four threes in the first half. Dougherty finished with 14 points and five assists.

Memson came within a rebound of recording a double-double, as the junior from Nassau, Bahamas had 13 points and nine rebounds. Senior Tomas Brock struggled to find his shot, going just 2-for-10 for six points, but dealt out six assists.

SBU's interior defense struggled, allowing 32 points in the paint. "We've got to get tougher inside," said Guiot. "We're there, but we're not there, and that's the frustrating thing."

Miner Maurice Grinter led S&T with 19 points, most of which came under the basket. Grinter also collected 17 rebounds.

SBU falls to 0-3 on the year, while Missouri S&T stays unbeaten at 3-0. The Bearcats will be back in action this Saturday, November 20, when Drury comes into the Meyer Sports Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
