OMAHA, Neb. -- Ashley Creason scored two goals, but the SBU defense gave up a season-high seven goals as the Bearcats fall to the Mavericks, 7-2.
Creason led the Bearcats to the first strike of the match, with a score in the 18th minute. Creason took the cross from
Shonee Samia for the opening goal, while senior
Lindsey Boden also picked up an assist. The Bearcat lead didn't last for long, however, as Nebraska-Omaha scored just 29 seconds later, then took a 2-1 lead in the 23rd minute.
With a one-goal lead coming out of halftime, the Mavericks scored four unanswered, taking a 6-1 lead. Creason scored again in the 69th minute, off a shot from outside the box that deflected off the UNO keeper. Omaha's Katie Pickinpaugh earned the hattrick with her third goal in the 87th minute that gave the Mavs a 7-2 lead.
SBU falls to 5-5-2 in the MIAA, and 6-6-2 overall. The Bearcats are back in action at home, this Thursday, October 27th, as they take on Northwest Missouri State, at 3 p.m.
