TOPEKA, Kan. -- The SBU Bearcats dropped a pair of rematches from earlier this season, falling to Angelo State and Tarleton State, each by an 0-3 score. Bearcat hitter
Ashley Jurgensmeyer collected 25 kills between the two matches, and hit for a combined average of .367.
SBU failed to reach the 20-point mark in each of the three games against the Rambelles of Angelo State, falling 15-25, 18-25, 19-25. Senior
Brianna Wallace racked up 26 assists, and libero
Marcy Greenwade collected 14 digs.
Against Tarleton State, SBU hung with the TexAnns in their second game, when at 21-24 Jurgensmeyer got the kill to avoid dropping the set. The 'Cats forced a tie at 24-24 after a pair of blocks from
Joanna Granzow and
Jordan Nedbalek. Tarleton was able to take the following two points, and the game, at 26-24.
Wallace picked up 33 assists, for a total of 59 on the day. Greenwade, along with
Caitlyn Muder led the team with nine digs.
SBU falls to 6-11 on the year, as they prepare to resume MIAA play with another trip up to Topeka, to face the Washburn Lady Blues. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
