BOLIVAR, Mo. --
The SBU Bearcats controlled the match from start to finish, as junior midfielder Kelly Isaac scored twice in the opening minutes to give the 'Cats a 2-0 lead over the Missouri Western Griffons. The Bearcats held a 21-7 advantage in shots taken, and the Western attack managed just two shots on goal throughout the match.

In the fourth minute, Isaac put away her first score on a free kick, giving SBU the early 1-0 lead. Just four minutes later, after the Bearcats earned a corner kick, Isaac scored on a header from Brittani Ready to put the 'Cats up by a pair of goals. Ready recorded her ninth assist of the year, which leads the MIAA and is among the leaders in the nation.

Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Link recorded her third shutout of the season, in what was probably the easiest clean sheet of the year, as Link had to make just two saves over ninety minutes. "The defense played a huge part in the shutout," commented SBU head coach Rob Podeyn. "We all played well together; the midfielders had their best possession game in five or six matches. We had great ball movement, and really, we could have scored two or three in the second half."

With the win, SBU earns their 17th point in conference play, possibly placing them third in the MIAA standings, depending on the result of the match between Nebraska-Omaha and Washburn later tonight. The 'Cats are back in action next week with a pair of pivotal road matches, against Truman, on Thursday, October 21, at 2 p.m. and Nebraska-Omaha, the following Saturday, October 23, also at 2 p.m.
