BOLIVAR, Mo. --
Freshman Shonee Samia scored her MIAA-leading sixth goal of the year, but the Central Missouri Jennies outlasted SBU, 3-1. Samia's goal tied the match in the 24th minute, as the Bearcats played a strong opening half, but the Jennies answered quickly, then scored another in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Central Missouri struck first, in the 18th minute, when Kayla Shain put home her fifth goal of the year. Samia answered back just six minutes later, but the Jennies got the tie-breaking goal in the closing minutes of the first half to take a 2-1 lead at the break.

SBU hung with the second-ranked team in the nation, taking seven shots compared to UCM's eight. The momentum didn't carry over past halftime, however, as the 'Cats didn't manage a shot through the entire second half. The Jennies' Sharaya Sidebottom put the game away with a goal in the 71st minute; SBU's Megan Link played a solid second half, as she only allowed one goal out of 20 shots faced. Freshman keeper Paige Hemphill also came in during the final ten minutes to close out the match.

With the loss, SBU falls to 5-5-2, and 4-4-2 in conference play. The 'Cats, ranked sixth in the NCAA South Central Region, will look to get back on the winning track this Saturday, October 16, as they host Missouri Western. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
