ICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The SBU Bearcats continue the tournament portion of their early 2009 schedule with the first of two straight Texas trips. SBU travels to Wichita Falls for the Midwestern State Invitational. SBU returns five starters including All-MIAA middle blocker Ashley Jurgensmeyer and senior outside hitter Kelsey Stewart. Both players played well in last week's action at the Arkansas Tech Spikefest, with Jurgensmeyer and setter Brianna Wallace being named to the all-tournament team. The Bearcats have also added two Division I transfers in 6-1 outside hitter Danielle Reed from Texas-Pan American and 5-11 middle hitter Joanna Granzow from Missouri State.

THE COACHES
Bearcat head coach Kelly Richardson is in her third season guiding the Bearcats. She's improved SBU's win total from eight her first year to 13 a year ago.

First-year Drury coach Ashleigh Shear is off to a great start, with the Panthers already at 3-0 on the year. Prior to Drury, Shear was a top assistant at D-I McNeese State. Central Oklahoma is coached by Jeff Boyland who's in his seventh year with the team and ninth overall.

Venera Flores-Stafford is in her sixth season leading the Mustangs and is the second-most winningest volleyball coach in MSU history. Tarleton State is coached by Mary Schindler, who's in her fifth season guiding the TexAnns.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Drury Panthers have started 3-0 with victories over three Arkansas opponents (Arkansas-Fort Smith, Ark.-Monticello and Southern Arkansas). Jagoda Pstras leads DU with 21 kills while Rachel Warrington leads with 32 digs.

The Bronchos of UCO started their season at the St. Edward's Invitational and went 2-2. Kristen Wilson leads with 43 kills and is second with 38 digs. Setter Meaghan Wedberg has 106 assists in four matches.

Midwestern State started their season on a sour note, going 0-4 at the Missouri Southern Invitational. The Mustangs fell to Harding, Missouri Southern, Pittsburg State and Missouri S&T. Miranda Byrd has 41 kills for MSU, while Kiara Jordan has recorded 53 digs.

Tarleton opened up at the UNO Showcase going 0-4, before winning their home opener over Texas Wesleyan. Shay Gracy leads with 45 kills and Shea McBreatrty is the team leader with 77 digs.
