SBU NOTES

BOLIVAR, Mo. --
The SBU Bearcats kick off the final week of the 2009 season with three     games, beginning on Monday with the second attempt to make up the match against Central Missouri. The 'Cats took on UCM last week in Warrensburg, where they gave up a goal in the second overtime to take the loss. To finish out the week, SBU hosts conference leaders Nebraska-Omaha on Thursday, followed by Northwest Missouri State on Saturday for Senior Day. Although they have struggled recently, the Bearcats still have a shot at a winning season with wins against all three opponents. Three Bearcats have a reasonable chance at finishing as the leading goal scorer on the team; Junior Jaymye Ross currently leads with six goals, while Kelly Isaac has scored four on the season, and freshman forward Taylor Vick has compiled three. Ross is currently ranked sixth in the MIAA in goals scored, and fifth in points per game (1.15).

THE COACHES AND THE ALL-TIME SERIES
SBU head coach Robert Podeyn is in his first season on the Bearcat bench with a career record of 58-60-9. Podeyn came to Bolivar from Northwood University (Texas), where he won two conference championships since 2006. Lewis Theobald has been head coach at Central Missouri for three seasons, where he has led the Jennies to back-to-back MIAA titles in his first two years. Central Missouri leads the all-time series against SBU, 16-9-1. Dan Klosterman has led the Mavericks to four national semifinals, and won the 2005 national championship. The first head coach in the history of the program, Klosterman has a 162-37-7 record over the first eleven years. SBU has yet to beat UNO, who lead the series 5-0-1. Tracy Hoza is in her seventh season as coach at Northwest Missouri. During her tenure, the green Bearcats have earned a 48-71-14 record.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Jennies are riding a four-game winning streak, and just have one loss over their last nine matches. Cara Hennahane and Melanie Hall have carried the offense for UCM each scoring three goals over the last four matches. Hall is one of the MIAA's leading goal scorers, with ten so far this season.

Nebraska-Omaha is led by freshman forward Nicole Baier. Baier leads the MIAA in a number of categories, including points (34), goals (12), assists (10), and has the second-most game winning goals this season, with 4.

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats will be shooting for a chance at a winning record in the MIAA, in the final match of the season for both squads. Senior Andrea Tritz leads the offense with seven goals, while Sara Meidlinger has collected a team-high five assists.
