WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcats two game unbeaten streak came to an end against the Jennies of Central Missouri, after allowing the game winning goal in the second overtime. Central Missouri's Jenna Stone struck the first and only goal of the match in the 103rd minute. The Bearcats had chances early on, controlling the ball within the first 15 minutes of the match, outshooting UCM 3-1, but could not strike a ball past the keeper. The Jennies built a little momentum, and by the end of regulation, each team had a roughly equal number of chances, with UCM outshooting the 'Cats by a small 11-10 margin.
The overtime period saw the Bearcats offense slow, only getting one shot in between both periods. The Jennies weren't exactly overpowering, either, as they only had two looks at the goal, but that was enough to secure the win.
Junior Lindsey Boden led SBU with two shots on goal, while goalkeeper Megan Link collected 7 saves, a career high for the freshman.
SBU falls to 6-7-2 on the year, including a 4-7-1 record in the MIAA. The Jennies hold on to third place in the standings with the win, improving to 9-5-2 overall, and 8-3-1 in the conference. The Bearcats will get a rematch against UCM this Thursday, October 29 in Bolivar. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
