SBU NOTES
WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcats are looking at three games over six days this week, as they face off against Central Missouri in back-to-back matches, due to a rain out last week, followed by a weekend contest between against Missouri Western. The Bearcats are looking to build on a current two-game unbeaten streak, after holding onto a 2-2 draw against Washburn last weekend. Forward Taylor Vick has warmed up as of late, scoring in three of SBU's last four matches, including a game winning goal against Missouri Southern. Senior Kelly Isaac is looking to keep the momentum rolling from her last match, in which she tallied three points, with a goal and an assist against Washburn. Jaymye Ross is the Bearcats leading goal-scorer, with six strikes in the back of the net.
THE COACHES AND THE ALL-TIME SERIES
SBU head coach Robert Podeyn is in his first season on the Bearcat bench. With a career record of 58-55-9, Podeyn came to Bolivar from Northwood University (Texas), where he won two conference championships since 2006. Lewis Theobald has been head coach at Central Missouri for three seasons, where he has led the Jennies to back-to-back MIAA titles in his first two years. Central Missouri leads the all-time series against SBU, 15-9-1. Jeff Hanson is entering his fourth season at Missouri Western. Hanson led the Griffons to the program's best finish in its young history in 2007, earning a 4-15 record, and has already surpassed that win total in 2009. Last season, the 'Cats and Griffons split the home-and-home series, with each team winning on the road. SBU leads the all time series, 5-4.
SCOUTING THE JENNIES & GRIFFONS
The Jennies are coming off back to back 4-0 victories over Emporia State and Missouri Southern, and have won four of their last five matches. Cara Hennahane and Melanie Hall have carried the offense for UCM over that span, scoring five goals each. Hall is one of the MIAA's leading goal scorers, with seven so far this season, ranking her fourth. Missouri Western has a two-game unbeaten streak they will be trying to add to, after forcing a draw with conference leaders Nebraska-Omaha, and shutting out Missouri Southern. Abby Widrig is the leading scorer for the Griffons with seven goals, followed by junior midfielder Jessica Martin, with six.
