PITTSBURG, Kan. -- SBU volleyball pushed Pittsburg State to the brink in the first two sets of a 3-0 loss, before falling in each set, 26-24, and 25-22. The Bearcats battled back from an 8-2 deficit in the first set, coming back to tie the set at 15-15. The 'Cats would hang close early in the second set, before PSU went on a 8-0 run to change a 9-9 tie into a 17-9 Gorilla lead. SBU would fight back and cut the Pitt lead down to two, but after a pair of errors put the score at 24-20, the Gorillas were able to close out the set.
Pitt State took control of the third game from start to finish, including another long 7-0 run that gave them a 12-2 lead. PSU closed out the match with a kill from Corrinne Stringer that clinched the final point and gave the Gorillas a 25-9 win.
