BOLIVAR, Mo. --  The SBU volleyball Bearcats took the first set against the Fort Hays Tigers, before the visitors rallied to win the next three sets and the match Saturday evening. Alex Smith and Ashley Jurgensmeyer led the Bearcats with 15 kills each while Joanna Granzow had 11. Brianna Wallace had 42 assists and 14 digs and Marcy Greenwade led with 17 digs.

The Bearcats (9-14, 2-5 MIAA) never trailed in the first set and won 25-19 after leading by as much as nine points. SBU started strong in the second, leading by eight at 16-8 before the Tigers (6-15, 2-6 MIAA) would rally to win 25-23. Set three was another tight one, taken by the visitors at 25-22. The Tigers finished off the match with 25-17 win in the fourth set.

SBU wraps up their tough three-game homestand on Tuesday night against #8 Emporia State. Play starts at 7 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center.
