Bearcat Volleyball Ups Record To 5-3

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The SBU Bearcats won both matches on the last day of the Bearcat Challenge, bringing their record to 5-3 on the 2008 season.
 
SBU defeated Texas A&M – Commerce (3-1) and Missouri S&T (3-1) for the 2-match sweep in today's action.
 
We did a really good job responding after yesterday,” said SBU's head coach, Kelly Richardson. “I felt we learned from yesterday. We made adjustments where we needed to make them. Of course we were thrilled with the wins, but more than anything they were two huge mental wins for us.”
 
Kelsey Stewart's 21 kills and .474 percentage propelled SBU to victory against A&M – Commerce in the early match. Rachel Sawyer added 10 kills. Brianna Wallace had 46 assists,

The Bearcats took the first set from Commerce, 25-21, dropped the second set 19-25, and won the final two, 25-19 and 25-18, for their fourth victory of the season.
 
Later in the afternoon, SBU picked up a win against Missouri S&T (25-21, 25-15, 18-25, 25-13) in the final match of the Bearcat Challenge.
 
Brianna Wallace added 26 assists in the victory, giving her 135 total for the tournament. SBU's Kinsey Palmer had 12 kills.
 
SBU will defend its 5-3 record on September 12 against Henderson State in the Harding Tournament.
