PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The #4 SBU Bearcats ran their record to 9-0, by defeating Pittsburg State, 82-76.
SBU put four players in double figures led by Matt Rogers with 15 points and 12 rebounds. D'Ante Harris scored 13, which included 11 of 13 from the line. The Bearcats shot only 25% from the three-point line in the first half, but had improved their percentage 31.6% by the games end (on 6 of 19).
"It's an MIAA game on the road, so it's never over until it's over," said SBU's head coach, Jeff Guiot. "It wasn't a pretty win, but we're getting out of here with a win. We need to take care of the ball better, but we hit our free throws, and that made the difference tonight. We want to learn from every game. Pitt is a strong team who rebounds well on the offensive boards -- we just out-shot them tonight."
SBU now stands at 9-0 on the season, with a 2-0 record in the MIAA.
