Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - Megan Rosenbohm had her 9th 20+ point game of the season but Southwest Baptist came up just short against #10 Central Missouri on Saturday afternoon. The 80-75 victory improved UCM's record to 8-1 (3-0 MIAA) and dropped SBU's to 7-4 (0-3 MIAA).
Rosenbohm was sensational all night as she put up 28 points, which is a season high, on 8 of 14 shooting from the field and a perfect 11 of 11 at the line. She also dished out 5 assists and collected 2 boards. Caylee Richardson was extremely efficient once again with 19 points and 5 rebounds while making 8 of her 11 shot attempts. Morgan Henderson added 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. The Bearcats shot 50.0% (26-52) from the floor, 36.8% (7-19) on threes, and 94.1% (16-17) at the charity stripe. For UCM, Morgan Fleming scored 21 points and Kayonna Lee had a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The first quarter saw tons of scoring as both teams combined for 49 points. The biggest lead any team had in the quarter was a 5 point SBU advantage provided by a Laura Vierkant three with 22 seconds left. Central Missouri would add a bucket before the horn sounded to make the SBU lead 26-23 going to the 2nd. In the 2nd quarter, UCM went on a 16-4 run that opened up a 9 point lead, 39-30, with 3:50 left in the half. SBU would close that advantage to 41-34 on a Sydney Bandy layup and would take that 7 point deficit into the break.
In the third quarter, both teams lit up the scoreboard once again for 50 points. However, the 3rd belonged to the Bearcats and Rosenbohm. Rosenbohm exploded for 14 straight points from the 4:02 to the 1:18 mark and SBU outscored the Jennies 29-21 to erase the UCM lead. A deep buzzer beater three from Richardson handed SBU the 63-62 lead at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was a back and forth affair with five ties and seven lead changes. Two free throws from Rosenbohm gave SBU a 71-69 lead with 6:19 left but UCM responded with a three to go back up 72-71. Rosenbohm answered with a layup to regain the lead. Four consecutive free throws from Lee opened up a three point lead for UCM that they would not relinquish. A Rosenbohm three with 4 seconds left came up short and Central Missouri came away with the 80-75 win.
SBU takes the court again on December 30th against William Woods University. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 PM from Bolivar.
