BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The 2010-11 SBU women's basketball schedule has some new cats and lots of familiar faces. The Bearcats of coach JC Carter kickoff their regular season against another group of Bearcats, when they visit D-I Cincinnati on November 12. SBU's regular season home opener comes up on November 16 against Missouri Baptist, followed by a visit to neighbor Drury on November 20.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – One hundred twenty-three Southwest Baptist University student-athletes earned academic recognition from the MIAA when the 2009-10 awards were announced recently. Eight of those achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs and a spot on the Academic Excellence list. Eight individuals also received MIAA Scholar Athlete recognition, having a 3.5 cumulative GPA and being named All-MIAA in their sport. All 123 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll.
BOLIVAR, Mo. -- SBU women's basketball head coach J.C. Carter has announced that Alexandria Dews, LaKendra Smith and Tanis Spani will join the Bearcats for next season. Dews and Smith, who were teammates at Cisco College, will be juniors when they begin with the 'Cats in fall 2010. Spani will enter SBU as a freshman.
INDIANAPOLIS -- The SBU Bearcat women's basketball team finished the 2009-10 season second in the nation in Division II in three-pointers made per game. SBU finished with 273 treys made in 28 games, an average of 9.8 per game. Glenville State was first with 14.1 per game (394 in 28 games). D-II national champion and fellow MIAA member Emporia State was third at 9.0 per game (289 in 32 games).
