KANSAS CITY, Mo. --
SBU guard Ryan Dougherty has been named MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week, after helping the Bearcats to two victories. It is the first time in his career he's won the award and fourth time this season for an SBU player to receive the honor.

Dougherty averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the two SBU wins last week. The sophomore from Fort Worth, Texas, had career highs for points (18) and rebounds (10) in the Bearcats' win over Truman Saturday, his first career double-double. Dougherty had 17 points in the road win Wednesday at Pittsburg State. He shot 60 percent (9-of-15) from the field, 50 percent (6-of-12) from three-point range, and 85 percent (11-of-13) from the foul line during the week.

The Bearcats, who currently rank fourth in the South Central Region, return to action on the road Wednesday night, when they visit Emporia State starting at 7:30 p.m. from White Auditorium.
