KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcats' rematch with the Missouri Western Griffons, unfortunately was similar to last week's result from St. Joseph, as the 'Cats fell 82-72 Friday in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. The Griffons jumped out to 40-26 halftime lead and the closest the Bearcats could get in the second half was seven points.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the third straight year, the SBU Bearcats will rematch with the team they played in the final regular season game. SBU hopes to reverse the result of their last two appearances in the MIAA Tournament, after being upset in the first round in the last two years by Emporia State and Missouri Western. SBU fell to eighth in the latest regional rankings and were overtaken by the Griffons in seventh place.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- SBU's Matt Rogers and Tomas Brock earned All-MIAA honors, when the 2009-10 awards were announced Wednesday by the conference office. Rogers earned All-MIAA First Team for the third straight season and picked up All-Defensive Team honors for the fourth straight campaign. Brock earned All-MIAA honorable mention in his second season with the Bearcats.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcats dropped their regular season finale, losing on the road to Missouri Western 86-72. The teams will rematch in the first round of the MIAA Tournament, this Friday, March 5 at 2:15 p.m., with the Griffons as the fourth seed and the Bearcats as the fifth seed.

SBU tied with Missouri Southern for fifth place in the conference at 11-9, but won the tiebreaker due to a season sweep of the Lions.
