BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcats have announced the upcoming 2010-11 men's basketball schedule, which kicks off on November 12 with a trip to the High Desert Classic in Las Vegas. The Bearcats of head coach Jeff Guiot will face off against regional foes Central Oklahoma and St. Mary's (Texas) in the two-day event.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – One hundred twenty-three Southwest Baptist University student-athletes earned academic recognition from the MIAA when the 2009-10 awards were announced recently. Eight of those achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs and a spot on the Academic Excellence list. Eight individuals also received MIAA Scholar Athlete recognition, having a 3.5 cumulative GPA and being named All-MIAA in their sport. All 123 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll.
BOLIVAR, Mo. -- SBU Bearcat basketball head coach Jeff Guiot has announced the addition of Tre Smith, a transfer from the University of Utah. Smith, a 5-10 guard from Magna, Utah, played in nine games for the Division I Utes in 2009-10 and averaged 1.3 points while playing five minutes per game.
BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Former Bearcat Jim Grabowski is back in the United States after finishing a season in Portugal, his second pro season overseas. Grabowski's club, CB Penafiel, won the regular season and the Portuguese Cup. They finished second in the Proliga Division postseason tournament, dropping the finale, 81-76, of a five-game series to Lusitania.
