KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Junior guard
Ryan Dougherty has been named MIAA Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 7-11, as selected by a conference SID panel. Dougherty is the second Bearcat in as many weeks to win the award.
Dougherty was one point shy of his career high against Truman last week, scoring 22 points. The Fort Worth, Texas, native nearly recorded a triple double, bringing down eight rebounds and dealing out eight assists in the Bearcat win. Dougherty shot 68.4 percent from the field over two games last week, his highest two-game average of the season. Against the Gorillas, Dougherty scored 16 points off a 5-for-6 performance from the field while collecting five rebounds and five assists. His total of 13 rebounds and 13 assists over two games is more than he has had over even a three-game stretch at any point this season. Dougherty currently leads the highest-scoring offense in the MIAA, averaging 15.9 points per game.
Others nominated: Dijon Smith, FHSU; Jason Adams, MSSU; Tyler Bullock, UNO; P'Allen Stinnett, MWSU; Alex Henderson, TSU; Adam Holthaus, ESU.
