BOLIVAR, Mo. -- SBU Bearcat women's basketball head J.C. Carter has announced the signings of two players who will join the Bearcats for 2010-11. Ashlee Pitts and Anna Markovich recently signed letters of intent with Southwest Baptist University.
Ashlee Pitts is a 5-10 senior guard from East Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was East Central team MVP last season and was an all-conference selection. She ranked in the top ten in Oklahoma in three-pointers made. Pitts was voted one of
Oklahoma Tip-Off Magazine's top ten players for this season. Her high school coach is Sammy Mack.
"Ashlee is a strong, athletic guard, who can shoot the ball with good range. She will bring a toughness to our perimeter defense," said Carter.
Anna Markovich is a 5-9 senior forward/guard from Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She was a starter on last season's 22-7 Class 5A state runner-up basketball team. She is an all-conference player, averaging 10 points and five rebounds a game. Her teams have finished third and second in the state the last two seasons. Markovich's AAU team was a top 20 team in the nation last season. Her high school is Debbie Sharp while her AAU coach was Mike Hook.
"Anna is a proven winner. She's extremely skilled and finishes very well with both hands," added Carter.
