Businessman and civic leader from Lebanon, Missouri … He and his wife, Mary, had four children … Founded Empire Gas Corporation in 1963 and served as the chairman of the board of Empire until 1996 … Also served as the the chairman for Evergreen Investments … His support of higher education was evident by many actions  … Attended Central Methodist and served on their Board of Trustees as well as the Board of Trustees at College of the Ozarks and was a former president for the Southwest Missouri State University Foundation … In 1999 the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center was dedicated in support of Students in Free Enterprise … Also at SMS, he contributed to the Plaster Sports Complex and Plaster Student Union … Was a longtime friend of SBU … His generous support enabled the university to construct Plaster Stadium, Plaster Guest Lodge, Mellers Conference Center and Taylor Free Enterprise Building … Generously pledged to the Partners in Excellence campaign for construction of the Plaster Athletic Center.
