"Shake-N-Bake" Lester Baker played football for SBU for four seasons,

and was one of the team’s tri-captains in 1987 and 1989 ... Originally from Needville, Texas, he was one of 12 children ... Played at SBU for coach Garry Brandt from 1985-87 and later for Jim Hall in 1989 … SBU’s all-time leading rusher with 3,892 yards on 823 carries … Holds SBU records for points scored in a game (30), in a season (114), and in a career (270) ... “Touchdown Maker” Baker holds SBU record for touchdowns scored in a game (5), and in a career (45) … Also holds SBU record for rushing attempts (43) and in a career (823) ... Held marks for rushing yards in a game and season until 2015 … Named to the Football Gazette All-American Second Team in 1989 … MIAA Offensive Player of the Year in 1989 … In 2014, was honored by Missouri Sports Hall of Fame as an Elite 11 member ... Was a teacher and assistant football coach for Bolivar High School ... Loved serving others as a barbecue grill master ... Tragically passed away on June 24, 2021.
