Grew up near Morrisville, Mo. …  Came to SWBC in 1956 after serving in Korea for 16 months … Played for the Bearcats from 1956-58 for Chester Elmore … Married wife Donna shortly after graduation … Was offered scholarship to play at Ouachita Baptist … Decided against continuing to play basketball, rather to ‘get serious’ to focus on degree and earning money for his new family … Attended Southwest Missouri State and had conversations with legendary coach (and SBU Hall of Famer) Eddie Matthews about playing basketball … Coached basketball and taught at Summersville and Fair Grove, Mo. … Obtained master’s degree from University of Missouri (though classes were at SMS) … Obtained doctorate at Arkansas … Started teaching at SBU in 1972 in psychology department and became chairman in second year; later became head of behavioral science department until his retirement in 1995 … Beloved professor and big fan of SBU teams, with he and his wife attending every football or basketball game, home or away, for over 13 years.
