JoAnn Harrison HOF 2SBU’s winningest softball and volleyball coach and the pioneer of three women’s sports programs ... Women’s Basketball: SBU’s first coach in 1967-68 and also coached team in 1972-73 ... Finished second and fifth in state in two years. Softball: Was SBU’s first softball coach in 1966, and coached for 18 years … Coaching record is 255-161, by far the most victories by any SBU softball coach … Teams won 20 or more games in five of Harrison’s 18 seasons …  The 1980 and 1981 softball teams won MAIAW Division III state championships and appeared in AIAW national tournaments. Volleyball: Harrison also was SBU’s first volleyball coach in 1965, with career volleyball coaching record of 314-235-4 (.571) … Remarkable record includes 13 consecutive winning seasons from 1966-78, including a school best 38-8-1 record in 1974.
