Springfield, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's and women's tennis team finished off a successful run at the USTA/ITA Fall Central Regional Championships on Sunday.
Fanni Varga claimed the women's singles title, while the doubles team of Varga and
Christina Zentai claimed the women's doubles title.
In the women's singles semi-finals,
Fanni Varga and
Mehak Singh both claimed victories in their matches to advance to the women's singles final. Varga took down Northeastern State's Kristina Savchenkov 6-2, 6-4, while Singh defeated Houda Bellamine of Northeastern State 6-2, 6-2. The two Bearcats met in the finals match, with Varga claiming the title by the score of 6-1, 6-3.
In the women's doubles final, SBU's Varga/Zentai cruised to the championship title with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Augustana's Katie Jesperson and Jenna Richards.
On the men's side,
Kristof Kinal lost a hard fought match against the eventual winner, Marko Boskovic of Ouachita Baptist, 3-6, 6-2, 10-3.

Christina Zentai will move on to the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships. The event is to be held at the Three Oaks Tennis Center in Fort Myers, Florida on October 10-13.
