Springfield, Mo. - Fanni Varga and Mehak Singh finished off the 2012 USTA/ITA Central Regional Championships on top with a 6-4, 7-6 victory over the doubles team of Quesada/Bartek from Northwest Missouri.

The Bearcats claimed their second victory of the day as Varga completed the sweep at the USTA/ITA Central Regional Championships, winning both the singles and doubles tournaments. Varga and Singh were able to hold off late surges from
Northwest Missouri through both sets, as SBU maintained maintined a lead throughout most of the contest.

On the men's side, the doubles team of Domingos Carissimo and Omar El Kheshen dropped a tough matchup against Northwest Missouri 7-6, 6-2. The Bearcat duo finished as runners up in the USTA/ITA Central Regional Men's Doubles.

With the victory, Varga and Singh will now advance to ITA Small College Nationals set for October 11-14 in Mobile, Alabama.
