KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Megan Link (Southwest Baptist) and Beth Bystrom (Truman) have been named MIAA Soccer Co-Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 2-6 as selected by a conference SID panel.
MIAA SOCCER CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Megan Link, GK, Southwest Baptist
The sophomore from Wildwood, Mo., recorded her fifth career shutout as the Bearcats topped No. 23 Quincy, 1-0, in a Friday afternoon match played at Harrison Stadium in Springfield, Mo. Link survived windy conditions and made eight saves while facing 16 shots. This was second straight season that the Bearcats beat Quincy in their opening match. Link made her collegiate debut in the 2009 win against Quincy.
MIAA SOCCER CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Beth Bystrom, F, Truman
Bystrom scored two goals and added an assist as the No. 24 Truman women's soccer team went 1-1 at the UCO Broncho Invitational on Friday, Sept. 3 and Sunday, Sept. 5. Bystrom totaled five points, took four shots (three on net) and started just one of the two games (UCO).
