SBU women's tennis earns ITA All-Academic Team Award
Four Bearcats earn ITA Scholar Athlete Awards

SKILLMAN, N.J. -- The 2009-10 SBU women's tennis team was one of 38 NCAA Division II teams to earn the ITA All-Academic Team Award. In addition, four Bearcats, Jolee Cook, Jenna Hendrickson, Sarah Sentlinger, and Crystal Guiot earned the ITA Scholar Athlete Award.

The ITA All-Academic award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes who have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

The Bearcats return to ITA All-Academic Team status after missing the honor in 2008-09. The 'Cats have won the award four out of the previous five seasons. This was the fourth straight ITA Scholar-Athlete award for Cook, a senior from Rowlett, Texas. Sentlinger, a junior from Ozark, Mo., earned her second award, while Hendrickson (Jr., Tulsa, Okla.) and Guiot (So., Bolivar, Mo.) were first-time winners.
