BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcats have announced the upcoming 2010-11 men's basketball schedule, which kicks off on November 12 with a trip to the High Desert Classic in Las Vegas. The Bearcats of head coach Jeff Guiot will face off against regional foes Central Oklahoma and St. Mary's (Texas) in the two-day event. The Bearcats then meet up with a former MIAA foe, when they travel to Rolla to play Missouri S&T on November 18.
The Bearcats kick off a stretch of four home games over ten days, including Drury on Saturday, November 20, and Central Missouri on Tuesday, November 30, which doubles as the MIAA opener.
In December, the 'Cats visit Lincoln and Pittsburg State, while Truman and Missouri Southern come to Bolivar. SBU opens 2011 on the road, with a visit to Emporia, Kan., on New Year's Day. The month of January sees trips to Washburn, Nebraska-Omaha, Missouri Western, Central Missouri and Missouri Southern.
On January 25, SBU hosts the Lincoln Blue Tigers, in what will be Lincoln's first trip to Bolivar since re-joining the MIAA this season. SBU also has January home contests with Fort Hays and Northwest Missouri. The Bearcats open February's first week with a home contest with Pitt State, a trip to Truman and return home to face Emporia State.
The Washburn Ichabods come to town on February 12, for an afternoon matchup that will be followed by the 2011 SBU Athletics Honors Night, where this year's SBU Hall of Fame class and senior student-athletes will be recognized. The 'Cats will host the defending MIAA tournament champion Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks on February 19. The Bearcats will close the regular season on February 26, hosting Missouri Western. SBU also has February trips to Fort Hays and Northwest Missouri.
The full slate of games includes 10 contests against teams that qualified for last year's NCAA Tournament. With the addition of Lincoln, MIAA teams will now play 22 regular season conference games.
