DUNCAN, Okla. --
SBU senior golf Brad Nipper shot a one under par 71 and stands tied for 13th after day one at the NCAA Division II South Central/Midwest Regional at The Territory Golf Club in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Wayne State golfer Aaron Peterson leads following a first round six under par 66. Wayne State also leads the team scores at 10 under par (278).

This is Nipper's third appearance in the NCAA regionals after playing on team qualifiers in 2008 and 2007. Nipper, a native of Willard, Mo., qualified as an individual following his senior season that saw him earn All-MIAA for the second straight year.

Nipper was one of two MIAA golfers to qualify as individuals, with Dustin Yeager of Washburn being the other. Central Missouri qualified as the lone team from the league after winning the MIAA title. The Mules are currently in second after a three under par 285.

There are two super regions being contested at the event which is hosted by Cameron University. The five best team scores along with the two best individual scores not on the top teams advance in the NCAA Tournament. The D-II Men's Golf Championships will be held May 17-May 21 at the Sagamore Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana.

Nipper tees off at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday. His Wednesday tee time will be determined by his play on the first two dates.
