CHARLOTTE, NC -- SBU senior sprinter Frank Grant, Jr. finished his collegiate career at the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, finishing 11th in the 100 meter dash and 12th in the 200 meters and just missed qualifying for the finals of each event.
On Thursday, Grant took third in his 100 meter heat with a time of 10.586. He narrowly missed the finals in 11th, as the top eight finishers ranged in times from 10.33 (Kimour Bruce of Lincoln) to 10.55 (Sean Stuart - St. Augustine).
It was a similar story Friday in the 200 meters. Grant took third in his heat, clocking in at 21.57, and finished 12th overall. The top prelim time in the 200m was 20.72 by St. Augustine's Josh Scott and his teammate Richard Boone had the final qualifier at 21.515.
Grant ends his SBU sprint career having qualified for both the indoor and outdoor national meets in 2010. He finished ninth in the 200 meters at the Indoor Championships in March.
The 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships were held at the Irwin Belk Track Complex, on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University.
