CHARLOTTE, N.C. --
After a ninth-place finish in the 200 meter dash at the 2010 NCAA D-II Indoor Track Championships, Frank Grant, Jr. has earned two more chances at a national title, at the Outdoor Track Championships this week. Grant will race in the 100m dash as well as the 200m dash, where he is seeded third and seventeenth respectively.

Grant started the outdoor season on the right foot, earning a provisional qualification in the first meet of the year, when he finished second in the 200m (21.34) at the Miami Hurricane Invitational. Grant improved that time at the Pitt State Gorilla Classic, winning the 200m in 21.26. Grant provisionally qualified for the 100m Dash at the same event, winning with a time of 10.41.

Grant was the MIAA champion in both the 100m and 200m, and hadn't lost to a Division II opponent until the final meet of the year. While he is the only competitor out of the conference in the 200m, Grant could see some familiar faces in the 100m, with fellow MIAA athletes Josh Schuler (Emporia State) and Jordan Patton (Missouri Southern).

Grant will first compete in the 100m prelims, scheduled to start at 6:55 p.m. on Thursday, May 27. The 200m prelims take place the following day, scheduled for a 6:15 p.m. start. Both finals will take place Saturday, May 29, with the 100m at 7:15 p.m., and the 200m at 8:31 p.m.
