EMPORIA, Kan. -- Only a handful of athletes ran for the SBU Bearcat outdoor track team at the Emporia State Sam Williams Qualifier, and most used the event as an opportunity to qualify for nationals or improve their times had they already qualified in an event.
Jasmine Sanford took second in the women's 100 meter dash at 12.49. Frank Grant, Jr. took fourth in the prelims of the 100 meter dash at 10.74, but did not race in the finals. He currently has the fourth best time in D-II in the 100m at 10.41, set earlier at Pittsburg State. Grant also placed second (21.52) in the 200 meters. Grant's previous provisional mark in the 200m (21.26) is 19th best in the nation.
Jeremy Glassmaker placed fourth in the 1500 meter run at 3:56.67 while Michael McCampbell was second in the 10,000 meters at 32:02.45. Glassmaker stands 17th on the 1500 meter national list at 3:49.24, set at the Arkansas Twilight earlier this year.
The Bearcats have had some NCAA provisionals throughout the outdoor season and will wait until later this week for the release of the NCAA Outdoor Championship qualifiers. The 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 27-29 at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, North Carolina, and are hosted by Johnson C. Smith University.
